What does the Andon signal light mean?

Andon (signal light) is a visual management tool that allows people to see the operational status of work at a glance and signals whenever there is an abnormal situation.
Andon can be used to indicate production status (for example, which machine is running), abnormal situations (such as machine downtime, quality issues, tooling failures, operator delays, and material shortages), and necessary actions like quick mold changes. Additionally, Andon can also reflect production status through the ratio of planned to actual output.

A typical Andon is a signal board placed at a high position, with multiple rows of lights corresponding to workstations or machines. When sensors detect a machine fault, the corresponding light automatically activates, or when workers notice a machine fault, they can activate the signal light via a "light rope" or button. These signals allow on-site supervisors to respond quickly. Another typical Andon is a colored light above the machine, using red to indicate a problem or green to indicate normal operation.
